The Galadari Hotel Flavors Restaurant is gearing up to introduce a food promotion unlike any other the ‘Chettinad Food Promotion’ commencing from the 20th to the 28th of January 2012. The venue is no other than the hotel’s famous ‘Flavors’ restaurant which offers guests the ultimate dinner dining experience from 7.00 pm to 11.00 pm.
The Chettinad promotion brings to you the very best of South Indian (Tamil Nadu) cuisine belonging to that of the Chettiah community. The food promotion includes the use of traditional Chettiah kitchen utensils in the preparation process and the highlight of the promotion will include interesting live action stations including Kothu-Parotta, Meter Coffee and Veechu Parotta.
Whilst the stage will be set to bring back the old traditional charms of the Chettiah community and its cuisines, guests will all be treated to a complimentary ‘Ice Moor’ drink which is a famous yoghurt based drink and the perfect start before you encounter the rich and wondrous flavours of the Chettinad menu.
The promotion enables guests to indulge in the very best of ala carte menus. Originally Chettinad cuisine was derived from vegetarian dishes but later evolved with the spread of trade and business in the Chettiah community and embraced other international cultures and cuisines especially that of Malaysian and Singaporean influences. Therefore Chettinad cuisines now include non-vegetarian choices as well. These range from a wide choice of non-vegetarian dishes such as baby shark, mutton, seafood, quail and chicken etc.
One of the very special secret ingredients used in Chettinad food is the herb ‘Kalpasi’ which is quite similar in comparison to that of the Truffle Mushroom. Kalpasi is rich in flavour and adds that much needed zest to the dishes.

Galadari Hotel and WTC successfully complete combined car parking project
The Galadari Hotel and the World Trade Centre (WTC) successfully completed their first ever access link that connects the car parks of both parties concerned. The completion of the car park access link project is highly beneficial to both parties enabling ample car parking facilities for customers of WTC as well as the guests of the Galadari Hotel.
The car park access link which was officially opened on the 8th of December 2011 has the ability to house a large number of vehicles. This advantage will be highly beneficial to both the Galadari Hotel guests as well as WTC customers, enabling hassle free parking services.
The project proposal was initially discussed in June 2011 between the General Manager Mr. Sampath Siriwardena of the Galadari Hotel and C.E.O Mr. Pravir Samarasinghe of Overseas Reality (Ceylon) PLC. The agreement for the above proposal was finalized and signed on 17th October 2011.
Mr. Saliya Hapugalle - Chief Engineer of the Galadari Hotel and Mr. Indradeva Mendis – Senior Manager Facilities Management of Overseas Reality (Ceylon) PLC were appointed as Project Coordinators. The project commenced on the 27th of October and was completed in a record time of 1 month and 7 days.
The access link will connect the two car parking facilities so that it could be mutually shared.
As finding proper parking facilities is the number one setback in Colombo, the new access link however will enable the Galadari Hotel to offer easy access and hassle free parking services to their most valued guests.
